And just like that...

...it's weekend!

The trailer for the movie Material was released this week. It is by the director of Jozi, which is my favourite south african comedy by far. So I am excited to see this one. Especially since it seems like it takes a look into the world of stand up comedy in South Africa.

I am not really so sure about that voice over. Trying to be a bit too much hollywood for my liking.

The movie stars Riaad Moosa as well a Joey Rashdien. There also seems to be some cameo's from other stand up comics like Nik Rabinowitz and Deep Fried Man.

Then there is also Skeem starring another local favourite Kurt Schoonraad.

So the future of South African comedy in the movie cinema seems to be in good hands. Time will tell.

Enjoy the weekend.

And just like that...

...it's the weekend!

A few weeks ago South African singer Ard Matthews messed up the South African National Anthem. Not to worry though, Deep Fried Man jumped to the rescue and made the below instructional video to help out English speaking South Africans to sing their own Anthem.

Enjoy the weekend.

Another week under the belt. Week number 31 to be exact. Thank you weeknumber.org. Yeah, that is an actual site...

This week I leave you with an article from South Africa's best satire news site, Hayibo.

Off-course Gautrain needs Gaudrain for Gaurain

This quote made my week:

"The new high-speed train service means that commuters can now travel from central Johannesburg to 1952 in just half an hour"

That is pure genius right there.

Have a great Gauweekend.

Enjoy the weekend, and remember that to catch a unicorn you want to really make sure you are on the right kind of LSD.

And just like that...

...it's weekend!

Man, what a crazy week. To recap of the Graca Comedy Showdown at Zula bar this past Monday. The first heat's winners are Oliver Booth and Rustam S August. Oli Booth does impressions which is what his act is based on. His Peter De Villiers impression  rivals that of Nik Rabinowitz. Rustam is the king of one liners delivered in a dead pan state. Very much like the in the same flavour as Steven Wright. He is brilliantly sharp and you better not wink cause you might not catch the next joke. Second Heat is happing on Monday. More detail to follow soon.

I was listening the Drive Time Robbery this afternoon like I do and they have a segment called "Lauren's Weird Shit" which is hosted by Lauren Beukas. This afternoon she shared a link to a video that I just have to share with you. Check it below:

Enjoy the weekend. Remember, if you shine your snitch twice a day, you will go bald.

Heckler gets served

Jamie Kennedy... yes, that Jamie Kennedy... yes, I know his show sucked, just stay with me here.

Where was I? Oh right. Jamie Kennedy, like most comedians, hates hecklers. Hecklers, not only ruin the show for the comedian, but can also ruin it for the crowd. A comedian's main job is to entertain a room fulled with people. The last thing they need is someone shouting out corrections to their jokes in the middle of a show. Hell, that is the last thing most people who go stand up shows want. So after watching this clip, you might think twice about heckling a comedian the next time you are at a comedy club. Remember, they are the one with the mic, and will always be louder than you.

And just like that it is weekend! Keep it legal. I don't know what that means...
